Research

DRI Canada is pleased to partner with Mitacs on the research project Moving Beyond Checkbox Culture: An Analysis of Business Continuity Laws and Their Use by Business Continuity Planners, led by Marion Benkaiouche through a Mitacs Fellowship with DRI Canada.

As part of this research, Marion conducted a jurisdictional scan of business continuity legislation and regulatory requirements across Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The project also examined how these laws align with recognized standards and frameworks, including CSA Z1600, ISO 22301, and NFPA 1660.

This research aims to better understand how legislation influences the practice of business continuity management and whether current approaches are driving meaningful organizational resilience or simply compliance-focused “checkbox” activities.
