Amazing Canadian Disaster

The Amazing Canadian Disaster is a national, interactive simulation designed to test how organizations, teams, and communities respond to complex, fast-moving disruptions.

Built on recognized professional practices in business continuity, disaster recovery, and resilience—and informed by current findings from DRI’s Risk and Resilience Report—the simulation reflects the most relevant and emerging threats facing organizations today.

Participants are placed into a realistic, evolving scenario that may include cyber incidents, infrastructure failures, natural disasters, and cascading impacts across sectors. Working in teams, they must assess information, make decisions under pressure, and adapt their response as new developments unfold.

This is not a scripted exercise. There is no single “right” answer. Instead, the experience mirrors real-world conditions where uncertainty, limited information, and time constraints challenge even the most prepared organizations.  Test your organization/community business continuity program, or apply what you know based on a fictional company.

The Amazing Canadian Disaster is both a practical learning experience and a national challenge—bringing together professionals, students, and organizations to test capabilities, share insights, and advance resilience across Canada.

May 1 will be the official launch of the scenario, with monthly injects being broadcast on the first Friday of the month.  The warp up will be at the Fall Symposium in Gatineau, Quebec this November.
