Business Continuity Planning 101
Getting Started / Overview of the ProgramWelcome!

We all make plans, daily in fact, that guide us as we go about our lives.  But what happens when things don’t go according to plan? And let’s face it - things rarely go according to plan. Life always throws us a curve now and then.

Well, when this happens some of us resort to ‘Plan B” – it is what we turn to in order to recover and get back on track.

In government and business, if disaster strikes it is imperative that
government and business recovers quickly and restores its critical functions as soon as possible. The importance of this parallels the scale of the disaster and greatly affects the impacts it will have on society.

This is where business continuity planning comes in.

In this eLearning program you will learn about:

  • What business continuity planning is
  • The principles and best practices that guide the process
  • Who is involved in the process at the various phases
  • Why BCP is important

As you work through the program you will be presented with 2 disaster stories where there were no "Plan Bs" in place. These stores help to illustrate the need for BCP.

BCP will help you reduce, prevent, mitigate, respond, recover and restore operations.
