Business Continuity Awareness - BCA 100
A fast paced lecture style, full day session that provides a high level overview of contemporary methodology and best practices used to implement a comprehensive business continuity program. This session is beneficial for employees who have an indirect or ancillary role in the development and maintenance of business continuity plans. DRI CANADA Instructors can make limited modifications to the session to assist in private or public sector organization which makes it an ideal in-house course. Additionally the session can be further customized to a shorter length for delivery as an executive seminar.
The list price on public courses is $500.00 CDN plus GST and includes morning/afternoon breaks. Unless specifically noted, the session traditionally runs 8:30 AM -5:00 PM.
In-house sessions can be provided at a discount that is dependant on the number of participants. A minimum of 7 participants are required for the delivery of an in-house session with an ideal maximum of not more than 25 participants. TAKING CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE:
CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS CONTINUITY
Lecture style full day session providing an understanding of standard methodology and best practices used in the provision of Critical Incident Stress Management. The session also includes group and individual exercises. The purpose of this course is to provide employers with the knowledge to better understand the potential psychological and emotional setbacks their employees may experience in times of crisis. Understanding the difficulties employees may face is an intricate component of “Business Continuity “planning.
Best Practices for Business Continuity Planning necessitate the asking of the following questions: How do we know if those key members of our team will be able to manage in a crisis? How will we as a support system be able to identify and support those who most need our help? This course addresses those issues.
This session is beneficial for management and employees involved in the development and maintenance of business continuity plans. Modifications to the sessions can be made to incorporate specific industry based concerns.

Introduction to Business Continuity Planning – BCLE 1000
Nine and one half (9.5) day lecture style course that provides a detailed, introductory overview of the 10 Professional Practices for Business Continuity Professionals that includes an opportunity to challenge the multiple choice Qualifying Examination on day 10 where upon successful completion DRI CANADA awards ABCP Certification designation. DRI CANADA instructors discuss and deliver modules BCLE 100-900 that provides practical means to develop, test and maintain business continuity plans.
The list price on public courses is $4,550.00 CDN plus GST and includes the Qualifying Examination. The course includes morning/afternoon breaks. All course material is distributed on the first day of the course. Unless specifically noted per event, the course traditionally runs 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (M-F). Day 10, Qualifying Examination day runs 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM.

Business Continuity Planning, Accelerated – BCLE 2000
The Professional Practices for Business Continuity Professionals are defined as the skills, knowledge and procedures BC professionals need to lead a BC planning effort. This 5-day course includes 32 hours of instruction followed by the Qualifying Exam. Instructors offer a fast-paced overview of DRI International’s business continuity planning model and delineate the knowledge, skills and procedures needed to effectively execute each stage. Instructors present a case study exercise and other select exercises depending on the experience in the room. Upon completion of the course participants will 1) be reminded of the BC planning stages and requirements to effectively implement each one; 2) confirm their understanding of industry terminology; 3) learn recent trends, and 4) be able to articulate the roles of the BC planner, business components and executive management in developing, testing and maintaining BC plans. These are essential elements of the DRI International Qualifying Examination.

Business Continuity Planning for Auditors – BCLE AUD
BCLE-AUD is designed for novice & experienced corporate planners, internal & external auditors, personnel interested in self-assessing programs, personnel assessing program for clients, personnel performing audits to better measure their state of preparedness. This course is an interactive program that provides training, tools and hands-on experience to help attendees understand the key components of disaster/emergency management and business continuity. This course covers relevant standards, laws and regulations, the process of risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and the development, implementation, testing and maintenance of plans and procedures. Course materials delve into existing legal and regulatory requirements by industry and country, as well as emerging requirements. Specifically BS25999, CSA Z1600, ASIS, DRI International’s professional practices, financial services, insurance, healthcare, utilities, public sector guidance and a host of others will be explored. In addition, careful attention will be paid to the processes by which disaster/emergency management and business continuity programs are initiated with an eye toward corporate governance, policy, and procedures. The tools provided will allow planners to perform audits in accordance to appropriate standards and regulations. Emphasis on audit requirements and documentation will aid in the evaluation of records, organizational roles and responsibilities, process flows and corporate oversight.

This course outlines and briefly exemplifies the 10 Professional Practices for Business Continuity Professionals and refreshes participants on the practical means by which to develop, test and maintain business continuity plans. An opportunity to challenge the multiple choice Qualifying Examination on day 3 is included, where upon successful completion DRI CANADA awards ABCP Certification designation.

Masters Case Study Review – BCP 601
This intensive two day (16 hour) course prepares participants for the MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional) Case Study Exam. This course is intended for professionals with more than 5 years of experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning. The course addresses all phases of business continuity planning. The Masters Case Study Exam is a challenging four and a half hour case study that assesses the candidate's knowledge and the application of that knowledge. INSTRUCTION: Days 1 - 2, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm MASTERS EXAM: Day 3, 8:30 am - 1:00 pm Registration Fee: $1,695; includes refreshment breaks.
NOTE: It is mandatory that you bring your personal laptop to the BCP-601 COURSE and MASTERS EXAM. DRII will not provide a laptop for you. Please bring your laptop to class. DRII will provide power strips. Also, you will need to have Microsoft Word 2003 or Microsoft Word 2007 on your laptop to take the exam. Your exam will be administered via USB drive. If you are bringing a company-owned laptop for use in your exam, please insure it will read and save Word files to USB drives not supplied by your organization. Business Continuity Executive Seminar – BCLE 250
This fast paced dialogue style seminar is facilitated by a senior certified instructor or a DRI CANADA executive. The content is a specific overview of the Disaster Recovery Institute’s development methodology and best practices related to the implementation of a business continuity program; also known as a Continuity Of Operations Program (COOP). Topics covered include:
- The value of the DRI Canada Certification and Education program
- Business Continuity as a strategic element of Risk Management
- Risk Management techniques specific to Business Continuity Planning (BCP)
- Selecting and developing appropriate and cost effective recovery strategies
- Strategic crisis management versus tactical operations
- The role of the crisis communications interface to BCP
Participants will receive a high level overview of the standard methodology and best practices used to implement a comprehensive business continuity program. In addition, DRI will demonstrate how Business Continuity, as a process fits with the overall Risk Management discipline.
The seminar provides a valuable awareness of the relationship of Business Continuity to a risk managed service delivery model.
This seminar has been widely used by the Government of Ontario to help executives better understand the planning requirements and as a familiarization tool for the terminology and process model of business continuity.

On-Line Business Continuity Planning - BCPO 2000
In participation with the Northern Alberta Institute Technology, DRI CANADA provides the BCPO 2000 as an on-line Instructor facilitated BCLE 2000 that provides a practical means to develop, exercise and maintain business continuity plans to professionals with a minimum of 1 year of significant business continuity experience. It is important to note that the course is not self-paced but is Instructor facilitated.
The on-line course will explore the 10 Professional Practices for Business Continuity Professionals through 12 course modules over approximately 17 weeks. Upon completion of the course, participants will be prepared to challenge the DRII Qualifying Examination. With a successful completion of the examination, DRI CANADA will automatically award ABCP certification designation.
The list price of the BCPO 2000 is $2,550.00 CDN plus GST and includes the DRII Qualifying Examination.
