Professional Recertification

Renewing Your CFCP, CBCP or MBCP
Acknowledging the pace of change
Professional recertification is an investment. It can help you keep pace with change in your working environment. But it is also the means of maintaining a CFCP, CBCP or MBCP designation.

Who can recertify?
You can recertify if you have:

  • Complied with DRI International's Code of Ethics for Business Continuity Professionals
  • Paid DRI CANADA's Annual Membership and Maintenance fees
  • Achieved the required number of Continuing Education Activity points

Continuing Education Activity points
A CBCP, CFCP must earn 80 Continuing Education Activity points over a two-year period. Two-thirds of these points must be earned in activities directly related to business continuity planning/disaster recovery.

An MBCP must also earn 80 Continuing Education Activity points every two years. Forty of these points must be earned in business continuity planning/disaster recovery activities. Up to 20 more points must be earned in activities that enhance overall professional skills, knowledge and competency. At least 10 points must be earned in activities that enhance the profession.

Recertification exemption
In certain cases, a business continuity planning/disaster recovery professional in good standing may be granted exemption from the recertification points requirement. DRI CANADA's Executive Director personally reviews all applications for exemptions.
