Q: What is the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) CANADA Award of Excellence?
A: It is an award conferred each year by the community of Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) professionals to organizations that demonstrate excellence in planning and preparedness in the areas of Continuity Management, Technology Recovery (DR) and Crisis Management.
Q: Which organizations are eligible for the DRI CANADA Award of Excellence?
A: For profit, not-for-profit and government organizations are eligible. To be eligible an organization must have at least one full-time Continuity Management staff member involved in Continuity Management, Technology Recovery (DR) or Crisis Management.
Q: What is the difference between the awards presented by DRI CANADA and those presented by CCEP?
A: DRI CANADA awards recognize organizations. CCEP awards recognize individuals.
Q: I have nominated my organization for the DRI CANADA award. May I also be nominated, as an individual, for the CCEP award?
A: Yes. The awards complement each other.
Q: May I nominate my company even though I am not a member of DRI CANADA?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you distinguish between types of organizations?
A: Yes. We distinguish between the different types of organizations:
- Small Organization Award (1 - 500 employees)
- Medium Organization Award (501 - 5000)
- Large Organization Award (5001+ employees)
- Public/Government Award
Q: Are different processes used to select the small and large organization winners?
A: No. The Award Team identifies semi-finalists on the basis of nomination form information. Each semi-finalist is required to complete a detailed Self Assessment Audit. The Evaluation Team evaluates the responses and selects a minimum of two finalists from each category to move forward for Audit and panel interviews where a winner is named.
Q: When is the nomination deadline?
A: The on-line nomination form must be completed by January 20, 2012.
Q: How much publicity will DRI CANADA Award winners receive?
A: Winners are recognized at an award presentation ceremony held at the World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM) or other suitable venue. DRI CANADA will be pleased to work with your Public Relations or Communications department to achieve the level of publicity desired by your organization.
